Forest fires and the sun

About 66 forest fires burning in BC now because of the heat wave. This morning the smoke was covering the whole sky, and everything was orange on the ground. Had to turn on lights to make coffee. The dogs were nervous, and birds absent.

This is how the sun looked like: IMG_0007

The ground is covered with a light dusting of ashes, and the temperature five under normal.

In this image from NASA, smoke is seen over Vancouver Island and southern British Columbia on Sunday, July 5, 2015. (NASA) Vancouver, along with towns and cities on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast were blanketed in a haze of ash and smoke as forest fires continue to burn across the province, creating a cloud large enough to be seen from space
