The world-famous Skrik or “The Scream” by Edvard Munch is on auction in New York tomorrow Wednesday May 2nd.

There are four copies by Munch.  Here you can see and vote for the one you like best.

The Scream is the rock star of arts, few paintings are as widely known, and as much copied from t-shirts to coffee cups, indeed it is all the fun and copies that have made the painting world famous.

Many are having fun  copying this simple scene on the bridge, but all copying is illegal.

Edvard Munch (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈmʉŋk], 12 December 1863 – 23 January 1944)[1] was a Norwegian Symbolist painter, printmaker and an important forerunner of expressionist art. His best-known composition, The Scream, is part of a series The Frieze of Life, in which Munch explored the themes of love, fear, death, melancholia, and anxiety.

It is unlawful to copy, but in this case it should be unlawful not to, this is good fun.

My thought is not clear on this. We are talking about some pastel on a piece of cardboard.

I would have considered marine plywood or some heavy canvas if I should make something to last for a while.

But the fact is that it was sold for $120m to somebody that is going to make a lot of money on their modest world record investment.
